Gaming Projector
Are you ready to take your gaming to the next level? Great! Then I have just two words for you GAMING PROJECTOR!
Gaming projectors are starting to take the market by storm. A number of different types of game projectors can now be purchased such as projectors that have been designed especially for the Xbox, the standard DLP or LCD models and the up and coming LED gaming projector. In addition a sub category of these projectors is what I think one of the coolest gadgets to come down the pike in a long time, the pocket projector. All of these units have their special strengths, strengths that we will try to point out to you here.
DLP Gaming Projector
Let’s start off with the standard DLP or LCD gaming projectors. These units are very similar to the units you would buy for a home theater and are capable of throwing the same intense light and producing the same stunning image quality. Image sizes of 8 feet and a resolution of 1080 p are common with up to a 300 inch image possible. These sizes and resolution will not only change your gaming experience it will also make you feel like you’re part of the game.
Newer models of these projectors are also adding 3D capabilities to the mix as well, which means you’ll have to include 3D glasses in your purchase. One thing to remember though is that this is a projector and is one piece of a two piece system, the other piece is the screen. A good pull down or electric projection screen will go a long way in producing the image quality and brightness you want, but this is not something you’ll need to start out. Test the gaming projector on a very white wall and go from there.
LED Gaming Projector
The LED Gaming Projector is similar to the DLP Gaming Projector with a few exceptions, but these exceptions are extremely important. The first of these exceptions is the replacement of the projector bulb with an LED light source. This LED light source runs much cooler than the standard DLP projector bulb and thereby consumes less power. As with the DLP gaming projector the LED versions are starting to be produced as 3D ready, so you might want to figure in a set of three glasses as well.
Another perk of using LED is that the bulb life is greatly extended, generally to around 30,000 hours as opposed to 3000 – 6000 hours for a standard bulb. The second difference is that most of the machines that use an LED light source are generally not as bright as a standard bulb, but that is rapidly changing with the recent models starting to rival the brightness of the DLP gaming projector.
The Pocket Gaming Projector
Another option in a gaming projector is the pocket projector and they are exactly what they sound like. They are extremely small and very portable pieces of equipment. Pocket projectors are capable producing a 50 inch picture on any flat surface at 640×480 and once attached to your laptop you’re ready to go. Pay particular attention to the mode of connection any unit has, some come with USB and AV connectors, others have just AV and still others include iPod connectors. While this type of gaming projector doesn’t generate the eye popping results of a standard size DLP or LCD projector they have got to be one of the coolest gadgets to come along, due to the freedom and portability they afford the user. Also stay tuned because these projectors are getting brighter and more powerful all the time and soon they be able do most of what the DLP and LED projectors do now.
