As with a lot of successful companies they begin acquiring some of competition and that is exactly what Acer did with Gateway Computers, Packard Bell and its recent purchase of iGware a cloud server manufacturer. A further testament to Acer’s success is the $200,000,000 arena that they constructed for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

Yes Acer is successful and well known along with having a history of bringing technology to the market at very reasonable prices. This way of doing business has also translated into the Acer projector, which supplies some pretty high and features, such as 3D viewing and 1080p image quality and they do it at a price that makes these projectors very attractive. Acer offers projectors for the home, professional, people who travel and people who are looking to get the biggest bang for their buck.

We’ll give you a brief break down of each category of the Acer projector and how they might fit in with your gaming projector plans. Simply click on the link below and you’ll be taken to the Acer projector page

Acer Projector | Acer is a Taiwan based company that began operation as The MultiTech Co. in 1976 with eleven employees and $25,000 in operating capital. In 1987 the company renamed itself to Acer and since that renaming Acer has gone on to become the number 2 PC manufacturing company in the world. Not that Acer only manufactures PCs; quite the contrary Acer now manufactures notebooks, Tablets, monitors and of course projectors, just to name a few of the areas Acer is involved in.

Since 2007 Acer has been very active in acquiring other companies and has purchased Gateway Computers, Packard Bell and in 2011 is acquiring iGware Inc. in order to jump into the Cloud Server market. Acer even footed the bill for the $200,000,000 Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia for the 2000 Olympics.

Now that you’ve had a quick look see into some of the history of Acer let’s take a closer look at the Acer Projector lineup. Acer currently has four categories of Acer Projector: the Home Projector, Professional Projector, Travel Projector and the Value Projector. We’ll give you a brief break down of each category and how they will fit in with your gaming projector plans.

The H5 Series model is the H5360 and is a 3D ready projector and is certified for leading 3D solutions. Contrast, max resolution and screen size are the same as the H7, but the minimum projection distance has been shortened to 39.37 inches.

The H5 is a bright, low cost, lower contrast 3D ready machine that while not producing max 1080p resolution is budget friendly. The H7 is a mid-level machine that will give you 1080p but no 3D capability. The H9 is the top of the series and gives you full HD 1080p, but no 3D.

The Professional Acer Projector

This category of Acer Projector is comprised of 3 different series of projector, the P5 Series, P7 Series and the S5 Series.

The P5 Series model is the P571 and it will deliver advanced 3D visuals, complete WiFi control and has a native resolution of 1024 x 768 with a 3,700 lumen output on standard brightness. Minimum projection distance is 59 inches and a max screen size of 300 inches.

The P7 Series model is the P7500, does not have 3D capabilities and is geared towards meetings and presentations. Like the P5 it delivers complete WiFi control and a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 with a 4,000 lumen output in standard brightness. The contrast level is the highest in this series at 40,000:1.

The S5 Series model is the S5201M is 3D ready and increases interactive versatility using the Acer SmartPen to write or draw on the projected image.

Your best bet for a gaming projector in this group is the S5201M with its short throw, 3D capabilities and light 7.72 pound weight. The one drawback is the 720p scan format.

The Travel Acer Projector

This category of Acer Projector is comprised of one category which is the K Series and contains two projectors.

The First K Series model is the K11 and is not 3D compatible, but is highly portable weighing only 1.34 pounds. The projector also uses an LED light source producing 200 lumens with an 858 x 600 native resolution, max resolution of 1440 x 900 and a 2000:1 contrast ratio.

The Second K Series model is the K330, is not 3D compatible and only slightly heavier than the K11 at 2.87 pounds. As with the K11 an LED is used as the light source that produces 500 cool running lumens at a 1280 x 800 native resolution. The contrast ratio has been bumped up to 5,000:1 on this model and you can produce a max image size of 100 inches.

These are small pocket projectors so their light output will be low. If you’re looking for a quick way to take your gaming on the road then the K11 might be a cheap way to go, otherwise check out the S5201M.

The Value Acer Projector

Don’t let the term value throw you off these projectors have many advanced features including all being 3D ready.

The last X1 Series model is the X1261P and is 3D ready, has a 3,700:1 contrast ratio, 27500 lumens of brightness with a native resolution of 1024 x 768 and the same max screen size as the X1161P. Projection distance and screen size are the same as the X1161P.

At less than $500.00 the X1230PS is definitely the way to go in the Value category.
